Why Rodan and Fields?



Hello there!

Before I get into all kinds of details, I want to start by telling you a little bit about myself.


My name is Kathlyn Wade and I am an Army wife to an amazing, Christian man.  He is my greatest encourager and he always supports me, no matter what crazy idea I have!
I am also a stay at home mother to two beautiful children. 
A 3 year old boy and a newborn baby girl.






I have tried my hand at several different avenues for being able to work from home.  
I care about my family and my husband and I have both made the decision that I should stay at home with our younger children, but I also feel it my duty to help take care of my family monetarily in any way that I can.  
There would be times when my crafting businesses would show signs of great promise, only to have that promise shattered the next month with dwindling sales, leaving me feeling beaten down and useless, and unable to help my family out.

Let me skip ahead a little bit and share another part about me.

Over the course of the last year and a half, I had really started to worry about my skin.  I was beginning to notice premature aging signs and being that I am not out of my 20's yet, I was alarmed when I looked in the mirror and saw the beginnings of crows feet and large creases on my forehead and brow area.  
This is when I decided that visiting tanning beds and "laying out" were starting to pay their toll and that they were only going to make my skin look worse.  
So, I started wearing sunscreen and drinking lots of water.  
Of course wearing sunscreen is always a good idea, but it just wasn't enough to give me any kind of results.

That's when I heard about the company, "Rodan & Fields".  
I had successfully used their nationally known line, Proactiv, when I was in my early 20's so when I was introduced to their fairly new anti-aging products, I was very intrigued. 
I couldn't stop thinking about how wonderful the Proactiv solution worked for my acne and then I started thinking, 
"If their acne line cleared my face up as great as it did, what are the possibilities with their anti-aging products???"

I was expecting my second child at the time I was first introduced to Rodan & Fields.  
A friend of mine had sent me a message asking if I might be interested not only in using the product but also selling the product. 

 I didn't even have to think twice about it.  
The answer was a definite NO! 

How could I start a new venture in my life right before I was due to have a baby?
Not only that, I had also tried my hand at being a Mary Kay consultant about 8 years prior and that ended in major failure.  
There was no way anyone was going to talk me into this crazy direct selling business stuff again. 

My friend was very nice and didn't pressure me at all after I told her that I wasn't interested.
  However, she was always posting before and after pictures and videos of the amazing results other's were achieving using Rodan & Fields products.  
Time after time I found myself watching another video or reading another article.
My interest was peaked and I really wanted to try the products for myself.

Million's of people in their 30's, 40's, 50's and 60's look in the mirror and realize their skin is in need of major repair.
 The problem is that at that point it will take thousands of dollars and years of painful, potentially dangerous treatments in order to get the results they're after, only to realize it will continue to cost several thousands of dollars per year for the up-keep.  
Not to mention, a lot of people are totally against any type of surgical procedures, no matter how small they may be.
If you are used to buying department store products, Rodan and Fields products are not only better but they also are probably cheaper!

Then I started thinking about all the time and money everyone spends on eating healthy, going to the gym, and keeping a good looking wardrobe stocked...all in hopes of looking younger and better for as long as they can.  
But somehow in there, we forget about the biggest factor in looking and feeling young and healthy: OUR SKIN!

I've seen so many women and men work hours upon hours in the gym and in the kitchen preparing healthy meals, and they have great bodies to show for it.  
But then I look at their skin and realize it almost doesn't matter how in shape their bodies are if their skin is so out of shape!

The first thing people will notice about you is your face and your skin, whether that be good or bad.

After looking at the cost of Rodan & Fields products vs. the improvement it would bring to my skin (and honestly, the overall well-being of my quality of life!) and realizing that spending a little more now would save me thousands in the long run, I was sold.

Being sold on using the product and being sold on becoming a part of the Rodan & Fields team are two totally different matters though.

I tried my very hardest to ignore the business opportunity of becoming an independent consultant with Rodan and Fields, but it just kept being brought to my attention in one form or another and when something is brought into my scope of life several times, I strongly feel it's God's prompting for me to pay attention.

So, I decided to take this business opportunity very seriously. 
I didn't want to jump into something blindly and I didn't want to jump into something for the wrong reasons.
I'm a Christian so it was also very important to me to have God's approval of this decision, as well as my husband's.

It took me a while to mention Rodan & Fields to Seth (my husband).
I was afraid he might laugh or make fun of me or tell me how horrible of an idea it would be.
He has a business degree and is also about 3/4 of the way through his MBA, so I was prepared for him to start listing off all the many reasons I should forget that Rodan & Fields even existed.
MUCH to my surprise, when I finally talked to him about it, he was actually interested.

Unlike other direct selling businesses where there are hundreds of thousands of consultants, Rodan & Fields is a fresh, new opportunity, with a very unsaturated market of independent consultants. 
Not only that, Rodan & Fields is already a multi million dollar company just due to the anti-acne line, Proactiv!
The succes of Proactiv in and of itself became a huge motivator in my deliberation of becoming a consultant for the anti-aging line.

After my husband started doing the research, and especially after he realized our home state of Virginia had close to zero consultants, he realized what a great opportunity it was for us.

 The amount of time that I thought about it, prayed about it, and did my research on it was about four months before my husband and I both decided it was indeed a great opportunity for our family and taking the small of risk of trying our best at the business was more important to us than never trying at all!

So here I am, stay at home, work at home mama.  
Excited about this new company and it's promising future for us!
